Then Democratic presidential hopeful, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, yells while addressing supporters during his caucus night party in West Des Moines, Iowa in this Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, file photo. Dean's bid for chairmanship of the Democratic Party has tapped into members' hunger for a fighter who can recruit new supporters, raise plenty of money and inspire enthusiasm in a party out of power. Then and now: Howard Dean is shown above on the night of Jan. 19, 2004, when he lost the Iowa caucuses to John Kerry and let loose the scream heard 'round the world. Now, Dean will replace current Democratic National Committee Chair Terry McAuliffe, who has been a worthless piece of shit for the past four years. Dean is shown below with McAuliffe last month in Washington, D.C.

It's Dean -- thank God.

The Democratic National Committee won't formally pick its new chairperson until Feb. 12, but only two candidates remain in the race, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and former Indiana Rep. Tim Roemer, who doesn't have a chance, so it's safe to say that Dean will be the next chair of the DNC.

Now that the DNC is going to have the leadership that it has sorely lacked for the past four years, we can move on and rebuild the party. The days of the namby-pamby spineless Liebermanesque "Democrats" are numbered -- and these Grima Wormtongues of the party need to be purged if they don't slink away voluntarily.

I encourage those who have been turned off by the Democratic Party of the past four years to help us take back the party.* A good way to start is to attend a Democracy for America Meetup in your community.

We progressives are stronger working as one rather than working as a million different splinter groups. We need to put aside our relatively insignificant differences and come together to defeat the evil that threatens us all (I refer to the Republican Party, of course) -- just like in "The Fellowship of the Ring."

First those of us of the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party will take back the party -- and then the nation.

*It should be a fairly easy task, as the Establishment "Democrats" have demonstrated that they won't stand up to anyone.
