Texas prosecutor Ronnie Earle, who is a Democrat, is "partisan" and/or is a "party hack." OK, for the sake of argument, let's suppose that that's true (I highly doubt that it is). What the fuck was prosecutor Kenneth Starr, the ringleader of the witch-hunt against Bill Clinton? (Starr originally was to investigate the Whitewater scandal; when that didn't pan out, Starr switched his attention to Monica Lewinksy. Remember the pornographic Starr Report?)
In Bill Clinton's impeachment over having (gasp!) lied about sex, the Repugs orchestrated one of -- if not the -- dirtiest, most politically motivated fiascos of all time. Now, when one of their own is accused not of something insignificant, like having lied about sex, but of something significant, like having laundered money, as DeLay essentially is accused of having done, they cry "Foul!" Fucking hypocrites.
DeLay will get his day in criminal court, at which time the evidence will exculpate him or damn him. Of course, if DeLay is found guilty, the Repugs will attack the court system; if DeLay is found not guilty, the Repugs will declare how wonderful the court system is. Because that's how they operate.
The Repugnican Party will be unfairly damaged by DeLay's indictment, even if he is found not guilty. Yeah, the Repugs should know all about that: Although Clinton was not removed from office -- an impeachment is like an indictment, and so although the Repugnican-controlled House impeached (in essence, indicted) Clinton, the Senate acted like a criminal court and, in essence, found Bill Clinton not guilty -- the impeachment forever tainted Clinton's reputation and harmed his party. Which was the Repugs' intent.
How does it feel, wingnuts? But, as I said, you had nothing significant on Clinton (you had lying about sex), while it looks like there's plenty on DeLay. (There's certainly plenty on George W. Bush, including treason [I'll lump election-stealing into the category of treason] and war crimes. Maybe he'll be impeached for these crimes after the Dems take over the House next year.)
DeLay having to fight the charges will make it difficult for the Repugs to ram their agenda through Congress. Oh, kinda like how having to deal with the Lewinksy scandal made it difficult for Clinton to achieve his agenda? Karma's a fucking bitch, ain't it, bitches?
The indictment doesn't show in explicit detail exactly how DeLay is guilty of conspiracy. I'm no lawyer (although I would have been a fucking fierce one), but my understanding is that an indictment doesn't have to spell out every fucking detail -- that's what the criminal trial is for. Duh.
Besides, let's face it: If DeLay is guilty, as he probably is, he did everything that he could to cover his tracks. I mean, that's what laundering money is all about: Covering one's tracks. Said tracks would be uncovered during the criminal trial.
Anyway, if DeLay is innocent, he has nothing to worry about. (Isn't that what the Repugs always like to say about the accused?)
The Democrats and the moonbats are just fucking loving this, and the Repugnican Party is in deep shit right now.* For once, wingnuts, you're right about something.
