Former Arkansas governor and ordained Baptist minister Mike HuKKKabee -- until he "joked" about Democrat Barack Obama's assassination at a National Rifle Association convention yesterday, anyway -- was widely considered to be the strongest candidate for the No. 2 spot on the 2008 Repugnican presidential ticket. HuKKKabee is shown in February above and is shown below walking by Obama in January. Now you kinda have to wonder if HuKKKabee was fantasizing about shooting Obama at the time...

Potential Repug veep HuKKKabee
'jokes' about Obama's assassination
at KKK rally -- er, NRA convention
From the Associated Press yesterday:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Republican Mike Huckabee responded to an offstage noise during his speech to the National Rifle Association by suggesting it was [Democratic presidential hopeful] Barack Obama diving to the floor because someone had aimed a gun at him.
Hearing a loud noise and interrupting his speech, Huckabee said: "That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He's getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and he -- he dove for the floor."
There were only a few murmurs in the crowd after the remark.
The Obama campaign had no comment.
Huckabee, who sought the GOP presidential nomination, won the leadoff Iowa caucuses and seven other states. But he dropped out after Sen. John McCain, the likely nominee, piled up a series of big victories. An ordained Baptist minister, Huckabee attracted strong support among religious conservatives.
He and former GOP candidate Mitt Romney addressed the NRA convention [yesterday] as did McCain.
Huckabee's comments came during a nearly 20-minute speech in which he suggested gun education should start early....
Anyone who believes that the Civil War is over is woefully misguided.
In the United States of America it's still a battle between us blue-state "elites"* and the red-state nigger-haters.
Oh, the nigger-haters don't use the term "nigger" anymore, not in "polite" company. They use code. Such as in "Barack Obama is a Muslim, isn't he?", wherein "Muslim" = nigger. (And no, Obama states that he is not a Muslim, although in a nation that is supposed to have separation of church and state, it doesn't fucking matter whether he is a Muslim or not as long as he keeps his religious beliefs out of the government; the "Christians" [or, as I like to call them, the Christofascists] have no problem whatosever with religion being entangled with the government -- as long as it's their crackpot religion, of course.)
The nigger-haters also don't burn crosses at large gatherings anymore.** They have NRA conventions instead.
Anyway, anyone who thinks that HuKKKabee's "joke" about Obama being assassinated is acceptable probably finds Obama's assassination to be acceptable. Anyone who finds Obama's assassination to be acceptable is unAmerican and unacceptable.
HuKKKabee, who wants to be a national leader -- and national leaders, like "leaders" Dick Cheney and George W. Bush, tend to set the national tone -- now has put the idea in his white supremacist base's heads (if it wasn't there already) of someone shooting Barack Obama.
Oh, and HuKKKabee, an ordained Baptist minister, calls himself a Christian, too.
Whose assassination would Jesus joke about?
Oh, yeah -- the likes of HuKKKabee sure are giving Christianity a good name. I'm hard-pressed to think of a larger sin than to claim to be a Christian (such as by becoming an ordained Baptist minister) but to espouse satanic ideals (such as murdering a black candidate for president), thus smearing true Christianity.*** Funny how those who are the first to cry "blasphemy" are the first to commit blasphemy.
Yes, it's a battle -- a battle between us "elites," who actually believe in Jesus' teachings of love and brotherhood and sisterhood, and the red-staters like HuKKKabee and his supporters, who, while they claim to be Christians, still think that it's OK to murder a man because he's black (and who want to slaughter every Muslim baby and child on the planet, too).
Yes, it's a battle, and I've said it before and I'll say it again: If the red-staters want a rematch of the Civil War, let's blue-staters give it to them and finish the job that we should have finished 150 years ago.
God (and God is a She, by the way), after all, is on our side.
*An "elite" is someone who is not a hater and an abject dumbfuck in a nation that worships hatred and abject ignorance.
**Well, not as often as they used to, anyway...
***Um, it's pretty fucking simple: true Christianity actually follows Jesus' teachings as they appear in the New Testament in black and white. Jesus' teachings of loving absolutely everyone else and turning the other cheek do not support racism, xenophobia, homophobia, murder and all of the other lovely values that we see in so many Americans who call themselves "Christians." There's nothing to argue about here. This isn't about opinion, it's about fact, and it's not about right vs. left; it's about right vs. wrong.
