Britney Spears Photo

She looks pretty fuggin' Repugnican to me.

Oops -- I did it again!

I gave Barack Obama's campaign some more money today, that is.

I hadn't donated to his campaign in a while, and since Obama's rightward lurch after he finally dropped the house on Billary Cunton (giving us Munchkins cause for rejoice), I hadn't planned to donate to his campaign again -- until I read a news story that Repugnican John Fossil Fool McCain's campaign, in a television ad, now has taken to comparing Obama to Britney Spears.

Because, you see, both Spears and Obama are famous and are liked by young people. Which makes them two peas in a pod, of course. (Of course! It makes at least as much sense as the Repugnican "logic" of invading Iraq in March 2003 when 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, the monarchy of which the Bush crime family is buddy-buddy with, and when not a single 9/11 hijacker was from Iraq.)

McInsane's campaign is stupidly reminding us once again that Obama is more popular than is the crusty, musty McCain, and that not only the corporately owned and controlled mainstream media, but also young people, like Obama but not the fossil fool from Arizona.

Really, what reasons, except for his promises to bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran and to ensure the continued oppression of non-whites, non-heterosexuals and other historically oppressed groups (McCain opposes affirmative action and same-sex marriage), has McCain given anyone to vote for him?

And when he tells his own (would-be) supporters that not only the mainstream media, but young people, don't like him, but like Barack Obama, what reason do they have to give him a fucking penny? Why would you put your money on the losing horse?

And doesn't it bode ill for the future of the Repugnican Party that it is the Democratic Party that is capturing the hearts and minds of young Americans?

After all, the evil old farts who will vote for McCain, should he not die of natural causes before Election Day, will die eventually. (That is, in fact, the best that we can say of those who vote Repugnican: that they will die someday.) You'd think that the fascists who run the Repugnican Party would realize that today's youth will be tomorrow's geezers, and that while sure, many of today's youth might vote Repugnican after the onset of Alzheimer's, many if not most of them will stick with the Democratic Party for life.

So, while I'm no Britney Spears fan myself -- after all, it was in Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" that Spears was featured, wingnuttedly saying of "President" Bush after Sept. 11, 2001: "I think we should just trust our president in every decision that he makes and we should just support that" -- I sure in the hell wouldn't be denigrating the youth vote if I wanted my party to remain viable over the long term.

But that's the Repugnicans for you: from putting megacorporate profits ahead of preventing global warming to abusing the U.S. military by making the military a vehicle for shameless war profiteering instead of a vehicle for the actual defense of the nation to insulting today's youth vote, the Repugnicans, like junkies, care only about the short term. They don't care if, in their increasingly desperate attempts to steal elections because they can't win them otherwise, they destroy even their own party. Give 'em enough rope...

Anyway, I, for one, have found Team McInsane's latest TV ad to be inspiring -- it inspired me to give more money to Barack Obama's campaign.* Which probably was not the effect that those who are working for a third Bush term were seeking.

*Sadly, I think that I hate McCain more than I like Obama, much as I think that I hate(d) Bush more than I liked John Kerry...
