PAINFULLY PALIN

I watched the vice presidential debate tonight and it was painful.

Repugnican Gov.-of-Alaska-for-Less-Than-Two-Years Sarah "One Heartbeat Away" Palin is like a younger, female version of George W. Bush, who paved the way for dumbfucks like her to seek the highest offices of the land. (Pentecostal Palin, I think, like Gee Dubya, appeals to those millions of ignorant Americans [most of them in the red states] who love the idea that someone who is as utterly unqualified as they are can make it to the top... While I believe that Palin-Quayle truly is a dumbfuck, I think that her "hockey mom" "populism" is quite calculated bullshit.)

At lunch today my brother and I were listing the words to listen for during tonight's debate for a drinking game (see palinbingo.com for many of the words that we came up with); if you took a drink every time that Palin-Quayle used the retarded, overused-to-the-point-that-they've-lost-all-meaning words "maverick" and "mavericks" during the debate, you most definitely got shit-faced.

During the debate Pentecostal Palin was as alternately condescending and fakely warm and caring and folksy as John Fossil Fool McCain was during the first presidential debate last week. Millions of red staters actually believe that the likes of John Sidney McCain III and Sarah Palin-Quayle personally give a shit about them.

Some of Palin-Quayle's greatest debate hits were:

  • her statement that if she didn't answer a question posed by the moderator, well, that's because she was talking directly to the American people and not to her Democratic opponent Sen. Joe Biden or to the moderator (who, apparently, were/are the enemy of the people)
  • her statement that she didn't want to argue about the causes of global warming (which she just might actually believe, as "Saturday Night Live's" Tina Fey spoofed her as saying, is just God huggin' us closer!)
  • her surreal repetition of the Repugnican chant "Drill, baby, drill!" -- claiming that all Americans want drilling (which won't help the energy crisis), when, in fact "Drill, baby, drill!" is just oily Repugnican propaganda
  • her claim that Barack Obama doesn't support the troops and that U.S. military withdrawal from Iraq constitutes raising "a white flag of surrender" -- never mind the thousands of U.S. troops that have died in Vietraq (and the thousands and thousands more who have been injured or maimed) because of the BushCheneyCorp's illegal, immoral, unprovoked and unjust invasion and subsequent occupation of the oil-rich nation in 2003 for the war profits of Uncle Dick's Halliburton and the other war-profiteering subsidiaries of BushCheneyCorp
  • her slamming of the federal government -- despite the fact that her party has been in control of the federal government for the past eight fucking years
  • her labeling of the president of Iran as insane when she's just as insane a theocrat herself, a fucking Pentecostal, when the Pentecostals hope for Armageddon because they believe that they are "saved" and that everyone else is going to roast in hell for eternity, "speak in tongues," and believe that God is on their side and that everything that they oppose is satanic
  • her labeling of diplomacy with troublesome nations as "dangerous" -- when it's the lack of diplomacy that's dangerous
  • her labeling of valid criticism of the past eight years of Repugnican rule as "playing the blame game," "pointing the finger" and looking backwards and the like -- while the Repugnicans' criticism of Democrats' record is perfectly fair game, of course

Biden went too easy on Palin-Quayle -- apparently he was hesitant to hit a girl in glasses, so to speak -- and he was too complimentary of John McInsane at least a few times during the debate. Fine if Biden didn't want to label the McCainosaurus as the anti-Christ, but he didn't need to speak of the lying, corrupt, erratic fossil in such inaccurately glowing terms, either.

Happily (I'm being sarcastic), both Biden and Pentecostal Palin were able to find bipartisan agreement on two things: that same-sex couples should not be able to legally marry and that we should keep Israel as our 51st state. Yes, homophobia and Zionism are alive and well in both parties!

Which is why I still might vote for Ralph Nader on November 4, as Barack Obama undoubtedly will win all of California's electoral votes anyway.

Anyway, the pundits are saying that the vice presidential debate probably hasn't significantly tilted the contest one way or the other. Hmmm... I think that Palin-Quayle's rather wooden, stilted delivery and her pathetic attempts to cover up her ignorance and her ineptitude with "folksy" "common sense" -- not to mention her annoying, nasal accent (I especially hate the way she says the word "suuurge," which should be on Palin Bingo if it isn't) -- probably threw more potential voters toward Barack Obama than toward John McInsane.

If nothing else, the veep debate was just one more brick in the wall toward a President Obama.
