Dick Cheney, wife Lynne Cheney (center) and their lesbian daughter, Mary Cheney (left), are pictured at the Republican Nazi Convention in August. In 1981, Lynne published a lesbian-themed novel called Sisters. Maybe Mary read it and that's why she's the way she is.
Dick's daughter's a dyke!
Shout it from the rooftops.
Dick and Lynne Cheney are pissed off that our next president, John Kerry, when asked during the presidential debate last night whether he believes that homosexuality is a choice, mentioned in his response that Dick and Lynne's daughter Mary is a carpetmuncher.
"You saw a man who will do and say anything to get elected," Dick huffed and puffed about Kerry. "And I am not just speaking as a father here, although I am a pretty angry father."
A man who recently told us that there will be another 9/11-level terrorist attack on the United States if Americans elect John Kerry instead of "re"-elect George W. Bush says that John Kerry is "a man who will do and say anything to get elected." That's pretty fucking funny.
"[John Kerry] is not a good man," sniffed Lynne, from whose lesbian-themed novel Sisters excerpts are read regularly on Air America Radio. (Maybe the lesbian gene is passed on by the mother?) "Of course, I am speaking as a mom, and a pretty indignant mom. This is not a good man. What a cheap and tawdry political trick."
Um, I'll tell you what's "a cheap and tawdry political trick": Pushing for a hateful amendment to the sacred document that is the U.S. Constitution, an amendment that would forbid same-sex marriage, during a presidential election year.
The BushCheneyCorp has tried to use hatred, prejudice and bigotry directed at gay men and lesbians for political gain, just as Adolf Hitler's regime used hatred, prejudice and bigotry directed at Jews for political gain. The BushCheneyCorp's proposed amendment to the Constitution to deny a group of people equal rights has been a centerpiece of its hate-filled "re"-election campaign.
So John Kerry and John Edwards were perfectly within bounds to mention, during a presidential debate and during the vice presidential debate, that Dick Cheney's daughter is a dyke.
I might feel sorry for Mary Cheney that her name has been dragged into the presidential campaign -- except that, The Associate Press reports, "Mary Cheney, who is openly gay, runs operations in the vice president's campaign office." So it's not like she's a closet case or is trying to avoid the limelight.
Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, had this to say about Lynne's tiff: "She's overreacted to this and treated it as if it's shameful to have this discussion. I think that's a very sad state of affairs. I think that it indicates a certain amount of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences."
Yup. And after having written a lesbian-themed novel, God knows what issues surrounding her own sexuality Lynne has.
