Random Thoughts of Summer
- it's stinking hot here. last night after i left Vacation Bible School my outside temp registered at 106 degrees. that's sick.
- being without kids is weird. i spend so much time missing them that i might as well have them here.
- live 8 was awesome. we watched it after the fact on VH1. i heard the MTV broadcast was crappy because they kept switching from locale to locale. the VH1 broadcast was calm and cool and each band had an entire set. our favorites were Keane (amazing), Dave Matthews, and the very best was PINK FLOYD with Roger Waters and David Gilmore.
- just finished reading Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. the movie adaptation was quite true to the story -- maybe the best book-to-movie adaptation ever. the book was great, but the movie was even better.
- Anne Lamott has a new book out, her sequel to Traveling Mercies (one of my favorite books ever). The book is Plan B and i'll let you know how it turns out.
- heading to West Palm Beach for the next week or so. I understand it is hotter than Kansas. Would appreciate any prayers for my Aunt Sally who was hit by an SUV on Tuesday. She lives in Sarasota and I was planning on staying with her for a couple of days at the end of next week. She crushed one knee and severed the artery on the other ankle.
- well, that's it for now. enjoy the heat if you can do so, and if not, enjoy the airconditioning if you have it.
