| Rayne Today Searching for dharma, in spite of the weather... Proud member of the Reality-Based Community A couple of updates for you (in lieu of a bigger post - saving it for tomorrow 'cuz I'm still working on it), gleaned from another early morning walk with friend/neighbor/sitter… Sitter got another late night call from a parent. Yep, you guessed it. Single female parent. <sigh> No details because there’s no openings. Sadly, it’s a good thing we don’t have details. I don’t think sitter or I can handle another one of these soon. So very sad to see this on-going trend is not abating; so many single parents needing so much day care. And one of the other at-risk families has better news. We lose track of them when they leave the day care; the at-risk ones are typically in and out of the day care in a year.
The very young father (see this post) is now a few years older, has a much better manufacturing job, a nicer home in a better community, a more stable new wife and new baby. His kids from his first marriage are now enrolled in a better school. This took a lot of work on his part – good for him. Hope this means the kids are now going to have a fair chance at getting off the lousy treadmill they were on. One chink in that hope: we have no idea what happened to the kids' mother. And if she’s still using drugs and still getting them for visitation…well, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. Pray for the best. Gonna' be a light blogging day, have family obligations to attend to. I'll be on late today or early tomorrow with a response to steve@powersupply.com regarding minority business ownership. It's more food for thought and discussion, worth making a blog entry of its own. Enjoy some life balance today, don't stay on line reading all this stuff in the virtual world. Go live an actual life, get some fresh air, sunshine, catch a snowflake or a raindrop with your tongue, bake and eat some cookies, go to a bookstore and breathe deeply of the smell of book bindings. Step away from the keyboard! 12:41:01 PM
