| Rayne Today Searching for dharma, in spite of the weather... WARNING: SLOW BLOGGER AT THE WHEEL Jan Haugland pokes fun at my “slow blogging” – it is slow, though, since I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to post more than once a day, and the amount and caliber of content can’t be predicted. (In case you need to be reminded why or are a new visitor: my parents are in residence here through Christmas, have been here since mid-November. ‘Nuff said.) I’ll keep trying to post a little something every day, but it won’t be Pulitzer material! - - - InfoWorld.com has some interesting newsletters they send via e-mail; in particular, I find Brian Livingston’s Technology and Business Daily “E-Business Secrets” newsletter most helpful. Today’s weekly missive included a link to an article at StickySauce.com on improving rankings with search engines. For those of you bloggers who are highly invested around a particular topic or venue, this article might be helpful. Let me know what you think! - - - I shut my eyes this evening for a moment. Not to drift off, but to savor the moment. The “Wheel of Fortune” is on TV in the den, just after dinner. I can hear my mom and dad muttering to each other about dessert. A UPS truck utters a low rumble as it goes by our house into the dusk, bearing Christmas deliveries. I smell Swedish meatballs and dinner rolls cooling on the table in front of me. Dishes clatter in the kitchen, refrigerator closing, dishwasher opening. I’m 16 years old and in my parents’ kitchen during the holiday season. Utterly amazing, pure magic. At once exactly as it was then and yet as it wasn’t. And then I open my eyes: my little one tugs on my arm asking for dessert and a glass of milk, peering at me questioningly with brown eyes much like mine. The spell is lifted. Or was it a curse?
