WARNING: SLOW BLOGGING…AGAIN…

Today it’s little sugarplums, dancing around in the Christmas pageants.  Count ‘em, two pageants.  The parents are a little irked about it – having one pageant in the morning OR one in the afternoon is fine, but TWO in the same day?  This would have been a nightmare if I’d been working.  Drop him off for costuming at 1015 h, return for pageant at 1100 h, take him out to lunch at 1200h, return for costuming at 1315 h, re-arrive for second pageant at 1400 h.

The tyke is understandably tired and cranky after two performances (imagine being 5 years-old and having to stand in place for half an hour on your best behavior twice in one day, while wearing an itchy-scratchy costume, with countless parents and grandparents winking and waving doltishly)…not to mention how tired and cranky the grandparents are from all the shuffling around today.

Add little surprises like the digital camera battery dying in the middle of the pageant, and Mom and Dad are getting a little snarky too.  Bah, humbug.

I’ve exhausted, tapped out all my blogging time on the pageants.  Sorry, nothing much to post at this time.

I’m heading to my sister’s house shortly, to have dinner with my entire family.  There’ve been a few dicey, edgy exchanges already between family members.  Tempers are running high, the thin veneer of Christmas cheer is wearing through at points of friction.  I’ve warned my mom that although I will do everything possible not to go off like a bomb, I can nonetheless feel that tick-tick-ticking of a doozy rant coming upon me.  If the chips fall just right, it could be me and my kindred broadcast on CNN…

Tomorrow promises to be worse.  Why?  Because it’s my turn to be the hostess.  All of my kin at my house for the Christmas dinner.  It’s going to be brutal; I’m going to have to stay away from caffeine and alcohol and sharp objects.
