Psst…how 'bout a quickie?

This week was loaded with ‘em.  I’m all blogged out, so today I’ll take advantage of a day of rest and render quickies instead.

Mourned

Note the loss of a great woman with los ovarios and then some.  She held government's feet to the fire and did it as a single working mom.  Thanks for blazing a trail, Sarah McClendon.

Saddening

4.5 million people are on emergency food aid in Ohio – alone.  Can you imagine the total across the entire United States?  The numbers you see quoted daily on unemployment don’t tell the whole story.  The working poor and the unemployed who’ve given up aren’t tracked by the unemployment statistics.

Somewhere I crossed a news article this week after posting on this subject – the US is giving an additional 3.5 million dollars in aid for educating Afghan women and girls.  This is one lone bright note this week.  (If you run across this story, please drop a link in comments, thanks!)

At least the Hamas messages to Iraq are no surprise.

And we NEED a national security database?

This is one important reason why we DON’T need a database.  The information’s already out there, and people abuse it like this seemingly otherwise intelligent Southwest Air pilot.
