| Rayne Today Searching for dharma, in spite of the weather... Is this odd as well? Why a good old-fashioned letter campaign to prop up Bush's numbers? Gotten anything like this in the mail? Worse, in your e-mail? Seen possible campaign letters to the editor in your local paper? Wonder what the turn-around time is on snail-mail-to-numbers-conversion for use in surveys...? UPDATE: Note The Raven's post which made reference to a letter from a US citizen, Robert Barnes, to a UK-based periodical, defending Bush's position on Iraq. Now I have to wonder if that was a prop-job too...as well as many other posts from alleged US readers? And besides the phrase "demonstrating genuine leadership", do you see any buzz phrases being employed as possible hype? 4:19:30 PMDoes this strike you at all as odd? U.S. State Department is sending out a little reminder note to all ex-patriates that they should be prepared to leave the country they are in on short notice. Hmmm. Yeah, it's common sense, just like disaster preparations here at home. Still...? 4:15:44 PMRantsCounterRants: My checkbook is out… From MSNBC today: To show she really cares — and to spark a news media firestorm — all Hillary, the checkbook’s out, pen’s waiting, I’m buying. Call me. No, I’m not entirely confident she has a chance; her husband did her no favors. But right now, if this would rattle Duh-bya's head and knock some semblance of sense into his shallow pea-brain, I’d buy this ticket in a heartbeat. It’d be money better spent than my tax dollars on that so-called PASCHA (see previous rant). RantsCounterRants: Make it stop, please, please, please… I can’t write rants fast enough right now, I’m watching a speeding death spiral and I can’t keep up with it. It’s so incredibly bad -- I don’t know if I could ever have a nightmare this off the wall. And I’m warning you now, the gloves are off, I’m not mincing any words. First, my thanks to Tim at Notes from Atlanta, who lit the match on today’s rant. Note his post on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV and AIDS (PASCHA). We’ve noted the appointment and departure of right-wing bigot Thacker to and from this same commission in the last 24 hours, but we somehow missed the entire composition of this council. Excuse me, but what a fucking joke – the entire council is stacked with more right-wing Bible-thumping bigots and not a one of them is qualified by way of science or medical education to assist with finding a vaccine or a cure. George Bush is not just stupid, he is one nasty piece of work. I’ve been giving him the benefit of the doubt thinking he was stupid – he’s malicious and evil AND stupid. This council is quite literally a big fuck-off-and-die to anyone with HIV and AIDS – and I think we’re stuck with this collection of morons because it’s a presidential appointment, not needing approval from anyone else at all. I’m embarrassed, ashamed, furious, morally outraged at the spectacular level of wickedness and incompetence displayed in choosing these council members. This is a serious waste of my tax dollars. I want my money back, immediately. And may George Bush reap what he sows, tenfold. And sideways. Now note Tim’s post on Helen Thomas. I respect this woman immensely – she’s an old-school journalist, tenacious, unrelenting and ready to tackle the stuff today’s “News Lite” crowd seems too willing to flee. If you’ve seen her at work, you know the passion she’s put into her career and personal integrity as a journalist. Read Tim’s post and the original article at The Daily Breeze for full impact, but Helen says, “This is the worst president ever…He is the worst president in all of American history.” You go, Helen, tear ‘em up. Don’t stop now! What fresh hell will this moronic excuse of a public servant do next to piss me off? It shouldn’t take long to find out; Bush’s bound to open his mouth in the next few minutes. I can only think of one thing that would suck worse than having to live with the shame of him as the president of my country; it would be to work for him and somehow have to make this shit look normal. RantsCounterRants: A little number crunching… Results of a survey on AOL as of 0900 hrs EST: Rate President Bush on
Total Votes 526,895 Rate Bush on the war on terror:
Total Votes 526,639 Rate Bush on the economy:
Total Votes 524,167 Rate Bush overall:
Total Votes 525,709 Naturally, there’s a disclaimer that says “Poll results are not scientific and reflect the opinions of only those users who chose to participate. It’s definitely not scientific, but this is a large sampling. Most surveys placed on the “Welcome” page at AOL only draw about 50,000 responses or total votes at this hour of the morning. I haven’t checked, but I’ll bet this sampling is far larger than the one used to check the President’s approval rating. I’ll let the numbers speak for themselves.
