Sloggers on War

Already a couple of submissions have been received.

If you’re mulling it over, good.  If you’re writing, even better.

If I can do it, you can too!

Pacing

Pacing unexplained

Waiting unlabeled

Agonizing unrestrained

He will not confess

It’s always work

Or something else

Viewing unsighted

Dreaming unpleasant

Hearing unrequited

But I know the reason

He cannot name

Anxieties that tease him

Hoping unceasing

Praying unrelieved

Weeping unseen

A son at a distance

Firstborn in harm’s way

In an unknown land

Calling all "Sloggers": Poetry not fit for White House consumption and then some…

Dear Salon Bloggers (a.k.a. "Sloggers") --

Tossed around recently with Mark Hoback the idea of co-editing a Virtual Occoquan edition which focuses on the topic of war.  You’ll recall the First Lady recently canceled/postponed (depending on the spin doctor du jour) a recent poetry reading after it looked as if some invitees might indulge in political statements.  Since then, a number of calls for poetry and poetry readings have been scheduled or held, in part to express that which was thwarted by the First Lady, and in part to protest or praise war.

Poetry Submissions Requested

Perhaps you’ve already donated to the cause via submissions to other war/anti-war poetry compilations; perhaps you’ve already posted something at your own blog.  But here’s another opportunity to post what’s on your mind – we’re soliciting your work so you’ve a chance to be heard.

Please submit your own original poetry related to the topic of war by e-mail to me at rayne_today@yahoo.com, cc: mhoback@mindspring.com.

Deadline

My apologies for the short notice, but we're going to try to get this out as part of a special edition of Virtual Occoquan.  We'll need your submission by Friday 21-FEB-03 at midnight for compilation Saturday morning.

Acknowledgements

Your work remains yours -- acknowledgement to be given as you choose in your e-mail submission, or as previously acknowledged in VO.

Go ahead, vent, get it off your chest and send us an e-mail submission.

Thanks!
