Damned photos in Word...

Somebody sent me a gorgeous photo, but embedded in a flippin' Word document.  I can't cut and paste the thing into any application to make a .bmp, .jpg or .gif file without losing photo quality (becomes extremely granular).  Spent all my damned posting time on this exercise in futility.

Anybody got a hint for me on this one?  The source is two times removed, can't ask how they created it (or why the hell they used Word, of all damned tools).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
