| Rayne Today Searching for dharma, in spite of the weather... I have a feeling there’s some sort of manipulation under way at the moment. Why else would BOTH sites CNN and NBC run the same photo of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed at the same time? They haven’t up to now – but they’re both running the same pic of a disheveled olive-skinned dark-haired man, who could be Khalid Shaikh Mohammed without a beard. (AP is running same pic, but I can’t seem to locate the article I read a bit ago from AP.) At a cursory glance, CNN and NBC don’t appear to be running the same stories in spite of the same pic. Only one photographer permitted, or the right photographer, or the only message? Hmm. Curiouser and curiouser. You Are Cordially Incited: CODE PINK ALERT Check this out, the sisters are taking it to the streets with Code Pink! Nina Utne’s started a weblog to document the Code Pink for Peace movement and its building momentum. I’m seriously thinking of organizing a Code Pink event here, maybe have a few of my like-minded friends together to have a think-in, see what we can develop together for a local initiative. Up to now, we’ve been isolated in our activism; it’s only been in the last couple of years that my circle of friends have become aware of each other’s attempts to change the world around us. This year was our first coordinated attempt: we adopted a working-poor family to help them have a Christmas they wouldn’t otherwise be able to have. We’re planning on a Cook for the Cure dinner in March – it’s something we’d like do at least twice a year. These have been initiatives of a local or personal nature; we’ve been helping members of our community or working towards improving the health of women we know or ourselves. With Code Pink we can find a way to organize our efforts on a peace movement., express our opinions about political and global issues. If you’re like-minded but don’t have the time to organize, check out and watch Code Pink, see if there’s something you can do to help. Looks like there will be others who can handle the organization if you’re willing to support them. Happy Activism!

UPDATE: Nuts, my new Activism category link isn't working properly! Sorry, I'm going to have to litter my front page with this for a bit until I get it sorted out! Thanks! Rayne’s “Morning Face”… The kids bailed out of the den to go wreak PlayStation havoc at the other end of the room. Unfortunately, they’ve left the television on again, parked on Cartoon Network. While I’m grabbing the remote to shut off the tube, my interest is captured. It’s The Jetsons, the episode where George and Jane need to shop for a new cook. What a gas! Jane’s friend calls on the videophone, looking coiffed and pulled to together while Jane is still an early morning wreck. Jane’s quick to slap on her “morning face”, a mask that makes her look well-maintained; of course, the gag is that her friend is wearing her “morning face”, too. Yeah, I want one of those “morning faces” when I get that videophone. In fact, no videophone until I have a selection of “faces” to choose from. Hmmm. Maybe that’s a business waiting to happen. I can see it now, the brand: Rayne in the Morning -- your instant videophone “makeup”. Perfect for those early morning or late evening videoteleconferences, too! Multiple backdrops and props available to match your favorite morning face. Don’t put on your game face, put on your Rayne in the Morning Face! Heck, it’s such a good idea, I better set my stake.
