Moxie and the lack thereof

Damnitall, if you’re going have the moxie to speak the truth from spirit, then have the moxie to stand by your words.  I’m referring to the Dixie Chicks debacle.

There should be more people standing up and saying that they are ashamed of Bush.

Backpedaling on your word by issuing a half-*ssed apology only makes one look flippant and truly irresponsible, insincere.

No backpedaling here, no reversal of opinion.  I’m serving it straight up.

I am truly ashamed of George W. Bush and his Administration.  While I respect the powers granted to the office of the President under the U.S. Constitution, I cannot respect those that do not live up to the authority and responsibility of the office or to the nation they serve.

It’s a large mantle to bear, being President – but you’re either up to the job or you’re not.  This man has proven he is not.  His minions in varying degrees have exhibited similar shortcomings.  Were I in a position to do so, I would not hire any of them, with the exception of a very small number, for any job in private sector; I’m extremely disappointed in them as my employees to date.  They have failed at every deliverable charged to them.

In saying this, I exercise my right of free speech, guaranteed to me under the same Constitution which grants Presidential powers.  The right to speak freely was a fundamental human right in which the founding fathers of this nation believed.  Their right to speak out in protest had been removed by a monarchy.  They made a specific point in drafting the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution to ensure protection of this inalienable human right.

People who object to the exercise of free speech support that which is counter to our country’s fundamental values.

If you don’t like this exercise, it’s a free country – as yet.  You’re perfectly free to pursue happiness someplace else.  Seek it with my blessings.

But do not expect your fellow citizens to cease to exercise their rights.

Slow blogger going for refreshment...

Well, I'm still feeling blogged out.  Fortunately my close friend who traveled in Europe last week is meeting me at our local coffee haunt.  I'm certain by the time we've exhausted all our conversation that I'll be back up to blogging form.

Maybe that's the root problem: not enough face-to-face time with like-minded individuals.  That Witches of Eastwick thing, get a small group together and the energy spirals out of control.  Like friction-borne fire.

Make mine a Double latte, skinny, no foam and a couple koulouria, please.  Double vanilla chai and a scone for my friend, thanks.

Or perhaps it's just the high dose of caffeine and sugar.  Whatever, I'm getting some.  Back later this afternoon, hope you're getting regeneration of your own this Sunday morning.
