RantsCounterRants:  Did you think what I thought?

“You’re going to need some damn big knee pads and a lot of lip balm.”

That’s what I thought when I read that Bush was going to try and schmooze the G-8 this week.  The spin I heard this evening on the results so far makes me want to wretch: “Friends can disagree and still be friends”.

Bullsh*t.  If a friend tried to lie to me every way to Sunday, ask me to compromise my ethics and risk innocent lives along with committing my budget, I’d tell them to sod off, pound sand, bite me and never darken my doorstep again, ever.  Real friends don’t do that to friends.

Fairway frustration

Not on the fairway, but off of them.  Much off.  The weather here was so crappy yesterday that we gave up the idea of golfing after waiting for four hours for the weather to improve.

Cold, blustery, wet – yeah, a great day for golf in Scotland some might say.  If I could play golf there, I’d play in that kind of weather.  But not here; I’ve got enough other things to do that are more rewarding that making an ass of myself on sodden, chilly fairways.

I spent the day brainstorming business opportunities with my brother; he’s got food management experience which is a great resource considering the opportunity at hand.  Having my dad and uncle here to field other ideas certainly helped; we’ve whittled the capital requirements from 100K to under 25K, depending on how big I want to launch.  It was good, clean fun to while away the morning.

But in spite of all that mental exercise, it’s not the same as spanking my brother’s butt on the links or getting some much needed coaching from dad on my quite rusty swing.

Hope we get another chance to go out soon; I don’t know when I’ll get to swing my clubs otherwise.
