DharmaSurfing:  Surf’s up, dudes, let’s ride!!

I’m not certain exactly what tripped the currents and tides this way, but I’m gripping my board tightly right now, paddling like hell to see if I can catch the big one.

Yeah, it’s beginning to look an awful lot like a business could be born.

At least one of you out there in the Salon blogosphere knows I’ve been mulling something over in detail.  Information is serendipitously falling in my lap, like manna from heaven:

n       my brother, a veteran of food service management, thinks my idea is highly viable after spending quite a bit of the last weekend hashing over the concept and the demographics;

n       one of my brokers, also a veteran restaurateur, also thinks it’s viable AND he’s given me contacts and suggestions;

n       another close friend proposed an information exchange with an acquaintance who’s got experience in food management (she needs help with a business plan, I need guidance on food management);

n       yet another person has emerged with an interesting suggestion and resources for negotiating retail space;

n       and my business professor expressed interest in coaching on this matter.

Feels like I've been on the phone non-stop for the last two days, pushed and pulled along by a huge current.

Three years of dormancy from the first, nebulous idea.  Nine months of pondering what to do on my career…possibly now to give birth to something of my own creation.  Funny how this all works, completely transparent to most people when they set foot in a mom-and-pop shop.

In the mean time, until this idea firmly seats itself on the crest of this wave or resolves itself in a final dash-and-smash on the beach, posting here could be thin.

(I’ll do my best to keep the ball rolling at Freedom 2004 Build-A-Meme Project, though.  I’m going to need a booming economy to get this business idea off the ground and I’ve no faith I’ll get it with Bush at the helm.)

RantsCounterRants: Bush’s so-called “victory lap”

Gah...that *sshole Bush was featured this morning on TV in Qatar doing a "victory lap" with the troops.  I had to hit the mute button, I can't take any more of his idiocy audibly interjected into my living space.

It’s just wrong, this prancing, grinning toad shaking hands with troops who have and continue to risk their lives to defend his lies.  They’re defending his lies in truly horrible conditions, while he basks in glory.

Everybody’s jumping up and down about Martha, Sammy Sosa, Hillary Clinton and whichever celebrity has most recently crossed the boundaries of the public’s fickle loyalties.

Why aren’t they furious about this lying cretin who cannot formulate an intelligent sentence, with a resume of failures that would surely make most sane businesses slam the door in his face?  Why aren't they outraged at his use of 9/11 and the deaths of thousands of innocent Americans as a personal promotional tool?

Get your priorities straight, people.  Martha and Sammy Sosa haven’t cost anyone their lives, nor danced a marketing rain dance on the graves of others.  And shelving a report documenting 44 TRILLION DOLLARS in debt is an ENORMOUS crime, against all Americans and against those in the global economy who may be affected if the American economy fails.
