Too close for comfort

When casualties appear among the members of the 4ID, it’s too damned close for comfort.

I am so torn right now; my husband is working yet again today, having already put in more than 70 hours this week.  On the other hand, I don’t think he could work hard enough here at home to purge the fear that must be gnawing at him.  There is no relaxation that will keep the concern at bay.

What was it like during Vietnam for the families of servicemen?  There wasn’t this daily barrage of reporting in this detail, was there?  The public didn’t hear day after day any more than there were more deaths, did they?  Was it any easier to hear so very little?

Will knowing the answers to these questions help?  I doubt it.

Dave Pollard asked about the plans for the new house.  These are the plans for the so-called “spec house”; this is the supposed base plan off which we are working towards our own new home.

Kitchen, family room, den (what we will call the “living room”) and master bath are being changed to suit our needs.  There’s more going on than just this, but it gets a little tedious; if I’m the one building this custom spec and I find it tedious, I can only imagine what another reader would think. 

Gah.  To think I used to draft plans for a living.
