| Rayne Today Searching for dharma, in spite of the weather...
Just a little Administrative Bulletin from Rayne Today In case you haven't already noticed at other Salon blogs, there seems to be a degradation of service in comments as well as posting. Those of us behind the blog-fronts haven't heard anything conclusive about the nature of the problem. I'm sure blogging continues across all our blogs as always, but may not appear to be updating promptly. Please bear with us, keep trying. Hope you've updated your patches if you're running MS Windows operating systems! ~The Staff p.s. There is the offhand chance that the system degradation is a result of more server traffic than expected because of an article in the New York Times featuring Julie Powell of Salon blog, The Julie/Julia Project. (Congrats, Julie!)
Funk-ville I can’t seem to get ahead on my blogging these days. I should be posting by Part of it is my schedule; my recently resumed morning walk finds me up between 5 and If a kid wakes up in the middle of the night, they’re crawling in bed on my side, foreshortening my 5+ hours of sleep. Gah. My brain is mush by I’m also going through a funk right now about the job situation. I’m incredibly peeved off about the lack of white collar jobs in this area. It’s been 13 months since I was last employed and I’m very restless, very itchy to do something. No, I’m not going to take any burger-flipping jobs (besides, who would hire me? They know I’d walk NOW if a better job came along; no sense investing the effort in training.) It’s starting to gnaw at me that I can’t even find a lowly secretarial job. When I went to apply in person at a local construction company (thinking that brushing up on construction processes might help with building our own home), there were people lining up to fill out applications for an opening that had been listed for over a week. Meaning: there’s a lot of competition; there’s a lot of people looking for the same, cheesy, low-level job. Some of these people are far more desperate than I am; I just need the benefits. <sigh> Where is this f*cking recovery the Administration is talking about eagerly? I don’t see any stinkin’ recovery in the want-ads!! So much for “finding something to keep my skills fresh”, Mr. Republican-who’s-only-working-because-he-doesn’t-have-a-hobby-and-can’t-make-the-PGA-Tour… But I’m not bitter, eh? Grrr. </whine> Welcome to Funk-ville. Hope you enjoy your brief visit! Hope the weather’s better wherever you call home.
