No way to treat a veteran

Nextel sucks.

Imagine coming home from a tour of duty in Iraq, trying to get your life back on track, when a cell phone company refuses to sign you up for a cell phone.

Why?  Because they can’t find any credit records on you.

Not because of bad credit, because you can’t be seen anywhere in their system.

Yeah.  It happened today.  I was with my stepson when he offered to pay for the phone, the deposit and a full year's contract in advance and they still wouldn’t sign him up.

The kid went into the service a mere four weeks after graduating from high school.  He’s had investments and a retirement account for more than the four years he’s been in the service; he’s had a residence with his mother and here with his father and me for more than 15 years.  He had a government-issued Visa card.

And Nextel won’t sign him up even after two attempts, even with me present to vouch for him.

F*ckers.  Way to treat a veteran.
