Don’t I wish!  If you’re looking for something to watch at this hour, check out the samurai series on TCM this evening; Yojimbo is starting.

You just missed the best part, though; Seven Samurai just wrapped up.  How tasty, two large servings of Akira Kurosawa!

The only wrinkle: this assemblage is a promotion for Tom Cruise’s soon to be released flick, The Last Samurai.  I used to like Cruise’s work, but I simply don’t have an appreciation for him any longer.  He’s lost his edge, at least in my opinion.  Anyhow, Cruise and Edward Zwick (director of The Last Samurai) are doing commentary for each film this evening along with film promotion.  It’s a little annoying, but I guess if you’re a Cruise freak you’ll enjoy it.  I'll wait to hear some feedback from viewers before I even think about seeing this latest flick (I've still not seen Cruise's Vanilla Sky, have no desire to do so).

Personally, I’m enjoying the back-to-back Akira Kurosawa movies; that doesn’t happen around here unless I crack open my boxed set!
