Greaterdemocracy.org: Stop the Plutocracy

Great article by Jock Gill and Michael Cudahy, also featured in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette*.  I can't recommend it enough.

After reading Robert Scoble's naive comments about the commoditization of labor earlier today in regards to Werner Ladders (read: Walmart apologist), I'm so glad there are countervailing voices like Gill and Cudahy who see the big picture.

This nation is not doing better when handfuls of individuals get tens of thousands of dollars in tax breaks that they'll merely stuff into bonds or offshore tax shelters while millions of Americans are permanently unemployed or underemployed and millions more go hungry.

What happens when arrogant, oblivious wealthy ignore too long the plight of hungry millions with a dismissive "Let them eat cake!"...??

Future post in the works

Damn.  I am so sorry I didn’t know this was going to be on or I would have taped this program I’m watching.  It’s The Power of Myth – Joseph Campbell, interviewed by Bill Moyers.

There’s so much meat to chew on here, I don’t even know where to begin.  I just wish that I could sit down with Richard Dawkins and watch this with him, hash out the religion thing he’s had a problem with for now a decade or more.

Three notes from the second hour of this interview that will surely lead to a future blog post:

  • religion is software
  • incompatible software and platforms
  • answers lie in myth as to how to live a human life

The hell with Dawkins; I wish I could have met Joseph Campbell and talk about this over a few beers.
