Ten years ago -- right about now -- I heard the nurses across the hall talking to each other.  They were comiserating with each other that another couple in a hospital across town would probably beat me and the delivery team for first baby of the new year.

They did -- thank goodness!  That other couple looked so exhausted in their photograph in the paper the next day.

Happy birthday number 10, baby!  You may have been baby number two in 1994, but you're always number one with me!

Happy New Year to the rest of you!  May 2004 be far kinder to you than 2003!
