Kerry: anti-Asian speech?

Check out Josh Marshall's commentary on Kerry's campaign in New Hampshire.  Marshall talks about the slack being cut for oldster Fritz Hollings.  Then he cuts slack on Kerry, too.

He's completely missing the fact that stirring up anti-Asian sentiment as both Hollings and Kerry did on the stump is racial bias!

This is the kind of stuff that got poor Vincent Chin murdered twenty years ago!  It's not the Chinese that are the problem.  It's not the Asian people that are the problem.

It's the way we do business in this country and around the world that is the problem!

I'm going to have a hard time voting for Kerry if he continues with this AND wins the nomination.  And he'll lose the Asian vote in this country, too.

Dean people, take careful note.

Questionable fact checking at FactCheck.org

Retract what I said a few days ago about FactCheck.org.  I find their work on the Bush-AWOL story to be debatable.  What I expect from a group funded by the Annenberg Foundation is impeccable work; it’s not.

The research article uses as substantiation for their work on the story comments or quotes from the following:

  • Joe Holcombe, described as a former Republican county chairman in Alabama;

  • Emily Martin, who said she had dated Bush during the campaign;

  • Dan Bartlett, Bush spokesman;

  • Two friends who worked with Bush in the Blount campaign.

Friends, girlfriends, party members, paid spokespersons are NOT objective, unbiased, factual sources.  Motivations should be questioned on any comments from persons who were not eyewitnesses.  The comment from the girlfriend is highly suspect, as she is merely repeating what she was told by Bush; is there no chance at all he told her that he was with the Guard only to impress her?  Where is a single quote or comment from anyone who saw him attending his required drills?

More importantly, we want hard copy records and sworn affidavits.

Nothing else will work here.  And I’m emailing FactCheck.org to let them know I find their reporting unacceptable and incredible.

Come to think of it, a sworn affidavit by Bush would work here, in addition to hard copy records.  Why are we getting non-denial denials via spokesmen, five years after this allegation was first made?

Isn't that what was extracted from the last President, sworn testimony under oath?
