Proud member of the Reality-Based Community Absolutely NOT Negotiable If you have pre-school or school-aged kids, you’d better read this. If you value your personal sovereignty, you’d better read it, too. Congress Funds Psychological Tests for Kids You know that “family values” thing that the right is always cramming in our faces? Yeah, that smug superiority, crowing about how family-oriented they are? It’s total fucking bullshit. A lie. They just voted away some of your most critical parental rights. And some of YOUR personal rights, too. But they've picked the wrong mother to mess with. When it comes to my kids, no one better get in the way. I’m not dealing, not messing around. The safety and security of my children is NOT negotiable. I would divorce my husband, disown my parents, leave my country before allowing ANYONE to mess with my kids. NOBODY will do any psychological testing on my kids without my express direction and permission; NOBODY will administer any kind of drug to them as a result of any such unauthorized testing. Whoever you are, responsible for this piece of shit legislation stuck in the federal omnibus spending bill, consider yourself warned. I’m taking this on. There is no way in hell you are going to administer ANY psychological testing on my kids without my express permission, with my tax dollars. There are children who are having difficulty in school because they are hungry. Feed them, with my blessing. Use my tax dollars to do so. There are children who are having difficulty in school because they are physically ill, their parents unable to afford health insurance for them. Get them affordable health care, particularly preventative health care. A child with an untreated contagious infection is a risk not only to itself but also to every child with which they come in contact. Nearly every parent would willing seek medical treatment for their child if they could afford to do so. Help them with this. Please use my tax dollars to do so. There are children who are already clearly having problems, already in the high-risk category. Their parents have already abandoned them or been labeled unfit. These children may already have a record with authorities because of troubled behavior. We’ve already identified these children. Help them find safety, security and love. You have my blessings to use my tax dollars for this purpose, too. But touch my children – healthy, well-fed, well-loved, blessed with plenty – without my permission and you will draw back a bloody stump. You right-wingers that voted for this administration and its sycophantic Congress voted away my rights as a parent, as this piece of legislation attests. What’s next? Are you simply going to dope us all into submission? Are you simply going to roll over and play dead for the drug companies? At what point are you going to exercise those so-called “family values” and have some real concern about your own children’s welfare? Have you not even thought this out, what might happen if most of the children in the U.S. were medicated with drugs that might stunt their mental development, which might affect their physical growth, which might increase the rate of suicide, which might leave them permanently stimatized by a label? Have you completely disregarded the opinions of doctors across this country about the impact of this legislation? The icing on this cake, of course, is that Istook’s aborted attempt to pry into the tax returns of others via legislation slipped into the same federal omnibus bill got all kinds of press. Oh, how awful…somebody wants to mess with our privacy. Why the hell didn’t the so-called press and the “family values” public show outrage over the privacy of children, citizens who have no ability to speak out for themselves? Why the hell didn’t the rights of the family get attention? If you feel as I feel, contact your Senator. NOW. Don’t wait for them to tell you they’ve already drugged your child. Or you. You do realize the New Freedom Commission's report to the President that spawned this legislation includes you, too, don't you? ====== More information on this topic: President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health The Therapeutic Nanny State by Ron Paul (Representative, TX-R) 9:42:12 AM
