Obsession in question

Another extremely heated argument with the spouse.  We've thrown the epithet "bigot" at each other.

He thinks I'm obsessed with politics and that it consumes my life.  I think he's functionally illiterate, even if he has a Master's in Engineering.

I hope like hell this marriage survives this political turmoil; it's survived some rather nasty patches over the last 14+ years.

But there are no guarantees -- particularly when people's fundamental values are in conflict.

I've thought of them often over the last year and a half; they, too, must have been "obsessed", yes?

They boarded a vessel illegally, in disguise, at the risk of their lives and their property.

They threw the contents of the vessel into the harbor in protest.

They deserved fair representation and they were willing to die for it.

Am I that obsessed?  I don't know.

I just know that things are intolerable, and what's at stake is far more important than the sundry oddments of a middle-class suburban woman's daily life.

Radio Userland comments crashed...?

There was supposed to be an upgrade this weekend to the Userland comments, consisting of a migration to new server:

http://productnews.userland.com/2004/12/03#a165

I don't have any confirmation that this took place.

Comments were quite flakey yesterday, and now are at a stand-still at those Radio-based blogs that still use the Userland comments (and not those that are Haloscan or other non-Userland systems).  It's quite possible this is fallout post migration, or that the migration is in process, or that the new system has an issue we've not previously experienced on the old system.

Bear with us as we sort this out.

(It would be VERY nice if somebody at Userland made an effort to communicate with their clients about this situation on a broadcast basis, instead of expecting us to go and hunt them down.  Catch the Cluetrain, please??)

Perhaps the additional feedback will get things rolling.  In the meantime, if you have something to say, drop me a note using the envelope icon in the right navigation bar or email me at rayne_today -at- yahoo.com.

Thanks!
