Just a heads up to let you know that the package arrived, thank you so much!

I can tell you that I will have to hide this bundled communion until New Year's; my daughter is already sniffing the contents with intense curiosity, as if she were a cat or a dog.  I'm sure it's the chocolate and vanilla, like catnip to this child.

Given the miserable conditions that affect 5 million people along the perimeter of the Indian Ocean, this concerns me greatly: yet another case of bird flu has been confirmed in Vietnam.

It's been niggling in the back of my mind for three days, that this is both when and where the next pandemic will launch.  Last year saw a number of bird flu cases in nearby Thailand; with many hospitals in the region tasked to handle the burden of injuries and illness resulting from the tsunami, it would take little to push the healthcare system over the edge.  An already highly stressed population would not have the reserves to fight off infection.

And with many more people traveling in and out of Asia to provide assistance, the likelihood of global spread is far greater.

Pray that this last case in Vietnam has been managed carefully, and that the source of infection has been obliterated.

Or we are in for another tsunami of an entirely different nature...
