Hellaciously busy here; for once I am glad I am not working right now.
Trying to write resolutions for the local party convention next week; must be presented to committee by Tuesday. Imagine trying to solve the problems of the country on paper inside a handful of days; theoretically, resolutions from local party groups filter up and guide the state and national platform. Okay, that hasn't been true, but I have a feeling we are on the verge of making this change.
The new house is also eating up enormous amounts of time -- lots of squabbling right now, trying to work out all these nitpicky details and still make everybody happy while not compromising overmuch.
Wrinkles popping up right and left in scheduling, too. The humidity level in the house dropped off too much, in spite of recent painting and a temporary furnace. This means the maple flooring dried too quickly. We have to pump in moisture using a humidifier before they can complete the finish coat, delaying this by a week. In the mean time, the cabinets are going to be delivered. Can't install them until the flooring is done, though. [sigh]
And another wrinkle, this time personal. My stepson may be moving in with us some time this summer. This changes how we will approach finishing certain areas; I'll have to pay more attention to the basement area; we stubbed in plumbing for a future bathroom just in case we had an addition to the household, whether in-laws or stepson. Definitely cheaper to plan for these kinds of possibilities; I hate to think what adding the plumbing after occupancy would have cost.
