Holiday
Chuck really likes the movie "Groundhog's Day".
Me too.
There's something that's so
satisfying about it, something wholesome, watching a chilly curmudgeon
gradually thaw and become a real, loving human once he learns to see
the opportunity and not the problem.
My son chirped, "Happy Groundhog's
Day!" this morning when he bounded into my bedroom to wake me up.
I think he thought it was a big, national holiday of some sort; he
wished me the same again as he disembarked from the car and went to
class. He brought home a picture he'd drawn of little brown
rodent sunning himself beneath a shower of sunbeams. "Happy
Groundhog's Day!" he said as he presented it to me. I felt like
I'd forgotten to bake a cake or put out special decorations for this
special event.
I could be pouty about another
sloppy-cold winter's day. Or I can make it a holiday, too, and
enjoy it. Somebody here chose the latter instead of the former.
Wonder if I could find instructions on baking a cake that looked like a groundhog?
