Three own goals in one game
English premier league club Sunderland lost 1-3 to Charlton today, after making three own goals (one of which debatable). Michael Proctor was the unlucky man of the day. It's hard to blame him, though, as the two goals he was 'credited' with came as deflections off his body into goal. Sunderland is struggling to avoid relegation. The team is not exactly having the best of luck.

Crush the USA!

A recent North Korean propaganda poster. Astonishingly similar to WWII propaganda. (From BA)

And they don't even have the Internet
"It seems bull elephant seals are long-distance lovers. Males of the species (Mirounga leonine) could theoretically mate with any female at all - such is their range." (BBC News)

Surrealist auction causes anger in Paris
For years, the family of the "father of Surrealism" Andre Breton has tried to persuade the government to set up a museum based on the books, paintings, photographs and other items left from the master. They have now gotten tired of waiting, and decided to auction the whole collection away.
This has caused a great autocry among many French intellectuals, and also internationally. An outraged American posted the following message:
"In the US we are accustomed to such barbarities, but we maintain the illusion that other countries - especially France! - take pride in their cultural achievements."
Take my word for it, it is an illusion. It is like that everywhere.

Weather Now!
Everybody complains about the weather, but nobody does anything about it! Well, what can you do? You can get accurate knowledge about it to your desktop! I have been for some time using WeatherCast, a small and free Windows utility that places a neat little icon in the tray area, telling current temperature where you are, and providing weather forecast at a mouse-click.
The program comes with "SaveNow," a bundled software which may annoy you with popups. It took me 10 seconds to get rid of it with Ad-Aware, and has not given me problems since.

Man pays his wife to shut up
Nicolae Popa from Romania is too tired to listen to his wife 'nagging him' when he comes home from work, so he pays her $500 a month to shut up. The wife, Maria, claims being happy with the deal while admitting occasional lapses. They have been married for seven years, and are now planning to have children. For that occasion Maria will demand a double salary to keep quiet.
And the men reading this goes "hmm, now that was an idea..." but will definately never admit it to their spouses

Half full, half empty
George Bush has said today that he would welcome a second UN Security Council resolution on Iraq explicitly authorising use of force. Whether resolution 1441 does is, as always, open to interpretation. That's the reason it was drafted as it was.
However, Bush also reiterated that he's prepared to move, with whoever goes along with him, to disarm Iraq (officialese for conquering and occupying Iraq), without any second resolution.
The interesting part in looking around various news sources is observing what part of this double message is given emphasis: the unilateralist or the multilateralist part.
