Support the barbies in court
Natalie Young, a 14-year old lesbian from New York, was expelled from school for wearing a t-shirt saying "Barbie is lesbian." Now she is suing the school.
"Schools cannot legally engage in this type of selective, content-based suppression of speech," lawyer Dan Perez said. "If she had worn a 'Barbie Supports the Troops in the War in Iraq' T-shirt, she would have been called a patriot."
I still think the school is a place for teaching, and making it a pulpit for all sort of ideas will only distract from the main purpose. Of course, once you allow one form of t-shirt preaching, you will have to allow all, and vice versa.
But that t-shirt was funny!

No powergenitalia
The story about the Italian division of Powergen chosing the somewhat unfortunate domain name powergentialia.com was too good to pass up on, and too good to be true. It was a spoof, and now it also appears the site (which was a very well-executed spoof indeed) is taken off the net.

Sex shops wins right to advertise jobs
The British sex shop chain Ann Summers have won against Jobcenter Plus, who refused to take in its job ads. A judge ruled that the job center will have to take in its ads from Ann Summers as for everyone else.
Quite right. Why should dildos and lingerie somehow be products anybody should be ashamed about?

On leadership
"Humanity. They follow leaders — queens or kings, chiefs or emperors. We tell them what to do, and they do it. We know no more than they do, but still, they follow us, blindly, as people lost in the catacombs would follow a child carrying a flaming torch." (Attributed to Emperor Augustus in Neil Gaiman's "August" in Sandman: Fables & Reflections)

Bush "professional fascist"

New Zealand's TV3 unexpectedly put on a graphic that described President George Bush as a "professional fascist" for a few seconds during primetime news.
The real graphic was supposed to announce an upcoming weather report.
TV3 spokesman Roger Beaumont said the network was thoroughly investigating the mislabelled graphic.
"It was an absolute case of human error. The fact that it made it to air was extremely unfortunate and we apologise for any offence that may have been taken.
"What I can assure you is that it was a completely unintentional mistake."
The TV station apologises for the incidence, and don't rule out diciplinary action against whoever is responsible. Even though it was completely unintentional. Sure!

— Move against Iran within 12 months
Alarmed at Iran's nuclear programme, British and American intelligence and special forces are being put on alert for a conflict within the next 12 months, according to London's Evening Standard.
The US, EU and the UN are all of the opinion that Iran's nuclear programme is not merely for power production, and IAEA chief Mohammed El Baradei says that Iran has failed to declare key components.
A military move against Iran is unlikely to be a ground war to achieve total victory and regime change, sources say. There are other ways to stop a nuclear programme. In the meantime, US planners hope that the internal opposition to the ruling clergy can achieve changes, though being grimly aware that the reformists, too, would rather see Iran becoming a nuclear power.

Most risky googling
Somebody googled me for "blowjob Tehran" Now, I don't doubt that blowjobs happen even under the noses of the mullahs (in fact, unlike some Christian fanatics, I don't think Islamists oppose oral sex in marriage), but I still think searching for it from Iran can be a bit risky. The search was in Farsi, even, not that this proves anything about geographic origin.
