Air guitar for sale on EBay

Peter Wells from Blackburn in England put out an ad on EBay to sell an air guitar, described as 'a 17-year-old non-electric model with some wear to the bodywork.'

The joker was somehow surprised to receive bids up to £25,000. At least one of the bidders were obviously in on the joke, though, offering to pay by air cheque.

He'll send it by air mail, presumably.

North Korea is hell

This article, built on testimonies from a significant number of refugees from North Korea, shows that reality is way beyond even the worst nightmares people have about the country.

Tens of thousands starved in the latest famine, from 1995 to 1997. Lee, who asked that her given name not be used, was a clerk in a government office who notarized the deaths in her town. She is a pretty young woman, 29, with tumbling hair curling to her shoulders and smooth, flawless skin that belies the hardships she has faced and struggles to explain. "We started seeing cannibalism," she recalled, pausing. "You probably won't understand."

She went on: "When one is very hungry, one can go crazy. One woman in my town killed her 7-month-old baby, and ate the baby with another woman. That woman's son reported them both to the authorities.

"I can't condemn cannibalism. Not that I wanted to eat human meat, but we were so hungry. It was common that people went to a fresh grave and dug up a body to eat meat. I witnessed a woman being questioned for cannibalism. She said it tasted good."

Sorry for ruining your breakfast.

Fondling allageation doesn't hurt Arnold with female fans

If we are to believe this WaPo article, Arnold Schwarzenegger's female fans are not discouraged by his alleged fondling of women. One of the prime "antidotes" to the claim he is a bully with women is his wife Maria Shriver, not a pushover (except perhaps in a literal sense).

Shriver, part of the nation's most famous family of Democrats, joined Schwarzenegger during his bus rally from San Diego to Sacramento, attracting her own share of adoring fans and requests for autographs along the way. In Modesto on Saturday afternoon, three young women admired Shriver's prominent cheekbones and declared afterward that they needed to diet. "Then maybe I'll get someone like Arnold," said Tiffany Lopez, 21, who "definitely, definitely" planned to vote for Schwarzenegger -- her first vote, ever. The women issue? "Not an issue at all," she said. "I'd let him grope me any time!"

The enemy within

A worrying report about the increase in extremism among Britain's young Muslims. While surely a marginal group, there is evidence that Islamism is on the rise, and they take their inspiration from Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network. Among the evidence is a video, circulating in Britain, combining hate propaganda and instructions on how to make bombs.

The video, which has been viewed by The Observer, includes a 20-second sequence during which a masked man shows how a detonator can be wired together. The man then gives instructions in Arabic on the construction of a bomb. The next sequence shows an exploding bomb in a building, apparently somewhere in Afghanistan, and footage of masked militants in what seems to be an al-Qaeda training camp.

The bomb-making pictures have been taken from a second video, also circulating in Britain, which features demonstrations of terrorist and military techniques.

British police is concerned, as they feel rather confident about averting attacks from Muslim extremists from the outside, but it is impossible to keep track of all potential homeborn terrorists. The "shoe-bomber" Richard Reid and the two British Muslisms killed in Israel are two examples. A terrorist attack in the UK is now described as 'inevitable.'

However, as this is the European press, extremism must always be blamed on the west itself:

The existence of the video will raise fears that radical Muslim ideologies, though still limited to a tiny minority of Britain's Muslim population, are gaining strength. In much of the Islamic world the invasion of Iraq has increased support for extremists and it is feared that it may have radicalised Muslims in the UK too.

Much like the Viet Nam war was blamed for extreme leftist terrorism in Europe in the 1970s.

"Yeah, she asked for it."
