Mullah Krekar biography
Ansar al-Islam leader Mullah Krekar, fighting a murder case in Norway for his role in Iraqi Islamofascist terrorism, is about to publish a biography in Norwegian, explaining his opinion about the court case, his life and Islam, obviously tailored to a naive audience.
Krekar has called his book My Case ("Min Sak"). After all, Mein Kampf had already been used by somebody else.
(From a Norwegian article in Nettavisen, though without my punchline)

New and improved urban fighting vehicle
I just saw the first photo released of the US Army's new Personnel Enhancement and Deployment Augmentation Loadbearer (PEDAL), the new urban fighting vehicle, using "mature, proven technology."
Shamelessly stolen wholesale from One Hand Clapping.

A world is searching for a leader
Newsweek columnist Fareed Zakaria has been in Davos, and criticises the US for only banging the war on terror drum, when there are other concerns in the world that require its leadership, most specifically: globalisation.
Increased international cooperation, globalisation, modernisation of third world countries are all crucial forces in our world today, that will determine how the lives of billions will be lived tomorrow. Ironically, even countries like China are embracing capitalism and an international economy, yet the United States is reluctant to step forward and assume the leadership role that everybody seems to expect.
Maybe it is because the US is afraid of being seen as an imperialist state, or because globalisation may suffer in some quarters if it is sold primarily as America's project. Then again, it may be that the current administration really has no other focus than the war on terror. That would be too bad. Globalisation may well be a major cause of international terrorism, but it also can give us the key to its solution. The Bush administration has often showed that it understands this in principle, so let's hope it doesn't fail in action.
It is crucial that the powerhouses of the west aid modernisation also in countries that doesn't need to be invaded first.

Football player dies during game

Miklos Feher, a football (soccer) player, died from a heart attack on the field in a top division game between Benfica and Vitoria Guimaraes. The Benfica player and Hungary international was 24 years old. The game was cancelled.
The player died shortly after having celebrated the game's only goal in extra time.
This is the second such death in football in five months. I am too polite to write what I suspect.

Translated, "Please don't shoot at me!"
"Kerry rejects 'front-runner' label" (CNN headline)
Too late. Mickey Kaus, for one, has been digging up lots of links to criticisms of John Kerry. He's soon going to get what Dean was getting, and then we'll see what he's made of.
Maybe the one benefitting from all this is Edwards, who seem to be gaining more and more solid support, and may be ready to take the lead when the others have burned out and are ready to concede? Hmm.

Mildly disturbing
Wonkette is a new blog, but has already been making some waves (all right, it used to be a password protected site, so is not really new).
I am not an insider with these things, so I have no clue who it is, but I understand it is Someone Important. At any rate, it's a very good blog, and the insults are really cool.
