US Congress rules Darfur crisis "genocide" The US Congress has voted to declare the humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan a "genocide." It urges the Bush government to seek a UN resolution for sanctions and
also authorize a multinational force to protect victims and the aid workers.
The UN has so far not called it a "genocide", which would oblige member nations to put an end to the tragic situation.
At the same time, UK prime minister Tony Blair has declined to rule out military options. Prime Minister Tony Blair has described as "premature"
reports the UK will send troops to Sudan, but added that there was a
"moral responsibility" to deal with the situation "by any means we can".
Again, Tony, you should not make cuts in the military at this time.
