Woman 'blessed by the holy toast'

Virgin Mary toast up on EBayI normally try not to steal headlines directly from my sources, but this BBC News article had one that I could hardly improve on. It is very Monty Pythonesque, isn't it?

The picture shows a sandwich a woman put up on Ebay. Unlike what you'd be tempted to believe, it is genuine. That is, the toast is genuine, and it's really being up for sale. Personally I don't think it looks like the Virgin Mary is typically depicted, but it does like a picture of some woman. Maybe it looks more like a 1930s movie star.

A Florida woman put the sandwich up for sale, saying it has brought her great luck since she found it 10 years ago.

eBay originally withdrew the item, suspecting it might be a joke. But it has now apparently been reassured that the offering is genuine.

The snack has attracted a bid - thought to be a hoax - of $99.9m.

Diana Duyser, 52, of Hollywood, Florida, set a starting price of $3,000, and pleaded with people not to post hoax bids.

A lot of people apparently didn't listen to that request.

"I would like all bidders to know that this item is not intended for consumption," she made clear.

Ten year old toast? Yech.

Football club violated law by barring female reporter from changing room

Our tax money at work:

Norwegian soccer champions Rosenborg Trondheim are violating sex equality laws by barring female journalists from the changing room, Norway's gender equality watchdog said on Wednesday.

"Women and men must have the same working rights," said Kristin Mile, Norway's official in charge of overseeing gender equality.

Rosenborg let male reporters into the changing rooms to talk to players after matches but keep women out.

"The practice is illegal unless Rosenborg have a very good reason to keep female journalists out of the changing room," she told Reuters.

Eh, no, can't think of any reason.

This case is so stupid it deserves the international attention it got.
