Mengele had no regrets about genocide

Doctor Josef Mengele, the nazi "angel of death," was unrepentant until his death in 1979, if we are to believe his diaries and private letters that has emerged in Brazil. He tried to justify his role in medical experiments and mass murder of jews in Auschwitz and admired apartheid in South Africa.

And he wrote not a single word of regret about their destruction on an industrial production-line scale, yet found time to criticise Israel for its "persecution" of the Palestinians as early as 1969.

This reveals a lack of a sense of proportions that Mengele unfortunately shares with many much kinder people.

While it is regrettable that Mengele escaped justice, it is some consolation that he died feeling lonely and abandoned.

Fallujah terrorist faked dead, opened fire

One week after footage showed a marine killing an injured and unarmed Iraqi, AFP reports why the soldier had good reason to suspect an ambush:

"Marines from the 1st Marine Division shot and killed an insurgent who while faking dead opened fire on the marines who were conducting a security and clearing patrol through the streets," a military statement said.

I am eagerly awaiting Amnesty's strong condemnation of insurgents violating the Geneva Convention (see Article 37).

Bring on the terrorist embeds

British Channel 4 News presenter Alex Thomson succeeds in writing an opinion piece that is braindead even by Guardian standards. He is deeply worried that embeds with coalition forces only occasionally provide material that is suitable for anti-American propaganda, so he wants embedded journalists with the terrorists, too.

Thompson doesn't make any pretence of journalistic objectivity, not to mention sanity, in an article where he speaks about the "so-called war on terror" which is an "ideological and military clash of Christian fundamentals with Islamist fundamentals." And here I thought it was the evil Jews neo-cons that were behind it all. It's good to see there is room for differing opinions even on the loonie left.

But maybe it's not such a bad idea, from his perspective, to place journalists from the mainstream media with al-Zarqawi's merry men.

I mean, let's face it, the technical quality of the beheading videos has been rather bad, and I'm sure progressive western media could give them far better quality material for future snuff promotion videos. And should they run out of local victims, well, there would still be a pool of infidel journalists right in their midsts.

Even Mr Thomson, however, realises that this may well be a challenge for journalists who prefer having their heads next to their wardrobes. That he doesn't draw some conclusions from this fact tells us a lot about the MSM. We can almost regret he wasn't embedded with the terrorists in Fallujah when the US Marines went after them.

The other news from Iraq

Arthur Chrenkoff has written another large article about the often overlooked good news from Iraq, fittingly titled Beyond Fallujah. It covers the massive preparations for the first election, which will take place on January 30, as well as information on reconstruction, economy, debt release and healthcare.
