Moore's bodyguard arrested on gun charges
Michael Moore's bodyguard was arrested for carrying an illegal firearm on New York's JFK airport:
Police took Patrick Burke, who says Moore employs him, into custody after he declared he was carrying a firearm at a ticket counter. Burke is licensed to carry a firearm in Florida and California, but not in New York. Burke was taken to Queens central booking and could potentially be charged with a felony for the incident.
Moore's rise to international fame was prompted by his Bowling for Columbine mockumentary, which attacked the American gun culture.
Update: MooreWatch prints a letter saying it is not true that Burke was, at the time, a bodyguard for Moore. He had been in the past. Moreover, the accusations against him are being contested.
I must agree that the (mild) hypocrisy charge against Michael Moore sticks, however. Considering his railing against the right to bear arms, it is hypocrisy that he relies on a firearm for his personal protection.

Dirty bomb in Boston?
A very good blog resource following the hunt for two Iraqis, four Chinese and a possible dirty bomb in Boston.
Link via Vodkapundit.
As has been remarked earlier, a radiological or "dirty" bomb is more a scare weapon than a true weapon of mass destruction. If one should be used, public panic would no doubt cause far more problems than the actual radioactive fallout, which almost certainly will be a neglible health issue.

Study: Half of multiplayer "women" are men
It's hardly a surprise that some "females" you meet in online games are really played by men. The reason for this may vary, but I guess quite a few flirting gamer guys choked on the result of this gender-bender survey.
Thus, about 48% of the female characters you meet in the game are actually played by male players.
Male players give several reasons for playing in drag. Quite prominent, however, is the generousity of male players towards a perceived lady. One young gender-bender explains:
Personally, you recieve a LOT more stuff when you start out as a female. Take my Barb Shammy for example. I was simply medding on the ramp in EverFrost, when a guy comes up to me and says " Hmmm Looks like you are looking for some new stuff " So he takes me into Halas and buys all Large Leather or better, and all my spells for lvls 1 and 4. Theres no contest that female characters get a lot more help. I help them too, though not as much because it is somtimes obvious that they are guys =/ [m, 14]
It may have unintended side effects, of course. Online gamer and journalist Lars Wærstad complains:
Whatever the reason, it is not very positive reading that my last five big dates have been men.
One of my female friends devised a number of questions that will be answered correctly by almost any woman, but very few men will know the answer (and hardly any young males). One question was what DIN measures. That, I somewhat surprisingly knew, is a European measure on the thickness of pantyhose. It has the advantage of being quite impossible to google (also given that in Scandinavian languages, "din" means your).
No, I don't know more such questions, and none specifically applicable to English-language forums. But I'm pretty sure many women do. And that doesn't help guys trying to distinguish between real women and the fakes.

Alcohol good for a woman's memory
A little alcohol helps women keep their brains sharp:
Women who imbibe a little wine, beer or even spirits every day are less likely than teetotalers to see their memories and other thinking powers fade as they age, according to the largest study to assess alcohol's impact on the brain.
The study of more than 12,000 elderly women found that those who consumed light to moderate amounts of alcohol daily had about a 20 percent lower risk of experiencing problems with their mental abilities later in life.
"Low levels of alcohol appear to have cognitive benefits," said Francine Grodstein of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, senior author on the study, published in today's New England Journal of Medicine. "Women who consistently were drinking about one-half to one drink per day had both less cognitive impairment as well as less decline in their cognitive function compared to women who didn't drink at all," Grodstein said.
Men, on the other hand, drink to forget.
