Chris Rock famously pointed out what baffling times we live in:
You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance and Germany doesn't want to go to war.
And we've reached a new level on the surprise scale when 500 food experts declare that the best restaurant in the world is British.
In a country which boasts such delicacies as sardines on toast comes the newly crowned finest restaurant in the world -- serving "sardine on toast sorbet."
The Fat Duck, an English countryside former pub, has topped an annual list of the world's best restaurants, marking a new gastronomic triumph for a country once known for, well, other reasons besides its food.
British restaurants won four of the top 10 spots and 14 of the top 50, beating countries like France and the United States.
Admittedly, "Restaurant" magazine, which compiled the list, is published in London but its selections are based on the opinions of more than 500 industry experts around the world.
We do live in interesting times.

The story about mass hostage taking in Madain that were subject to much controversy earlier appeared to have been true after all. More than fifty bodies have been found in the Tigris, another testemant to the inhuman terrorist campaign.
Police officers quoted by the AFP news agency said the bodies found in the Tigris included those of women and children.
"More than 50 bodies have been brought out from the Tigris, and we have the full names of those who were killed and those criminals who committed these crimes," Mr Talabani told reporters.
"We will give you details in the coming days... terrorists committed crimes there.
"It is not true that there were no hostages [in Madain]. There were, but they were killed and they threw the bodies into the Tigris."
Some Sunni Arab leaders had asserted that the kidnapping story was just an excuse for Iraqi security forces entering the town.

A recent poll in Baghdad shows that the vast majority reject immediate pullout of foreign troops in Iraq.
"Do you support the pull out of foreign troops? "At once - 12.56% "According to a future timetable - 81.80% "Do not know - 5.64%
"Has the security situation improved since the start of the new government? "Yes - 55% "No - 35% "No change - 10%"
There is more. Do you remember the vast anti-American pro-Sadr demonstration in Baghdad as reported in mainstream media? Sources closer to the ground say only a very small minority of demonstrators held this position. The majority were protesting against terrorism.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay continues his attacks on the judiciary, and he doesn't like the internet either.
"We've got Justice Kennedy writing decisions based upon international law, not the Constitution of the United States? That's just outrageous," DeLay told Fox News Radio. "And not only that, but he said in session that he does his own research on the Internet? That is just incredibly outrageous."
The horror! Next you're going to tell me Justice Kennedy reads books that haven't even been burned yet.
