Tom Cruise self-destructing.
Who could have imagined? Promoting Scientology surely leads
celebrities to say incredibly stupid things, like his assertion there
"is no such thing as a chemical imbalance." I'd say you're looking
more and more like living proof of the opposite, Mr Cruise. Why not
tell the audience directly that mental problems are caused by
invisible space aliens infesting us because evil emperor Xenu blew
them up with hydrogen bombs 75 million years ago? Or something like
that, according to scifi writer and Scientology founder L. Ron
Hubbard.
I wish I was making up the above, but I am not.

Lt. Col. Gordon Cucullu has been touring the GITMO facility at Guantanamo Bay, and found serious examples of abuse.
For obvious reasons, however, this kind of report will not make it into the mainstream media.

I have no idea why gmail suddenly started mime encoding outgoing
email, causing the two meaningless postings below. My apologies.

THE EXPECTED SUPREME COURT RULING in the Grokster file
sharing case ended in an unanimous shock ruling for
the media companies:
The justices, aiming to curtail what they called a
"staggering" volume of piracy online, largely set aside concerns that
new lawsuits would inhibit technology companies from developing the
next iPod or other high-tech gadgets or services.
It is undoubtedly going to be an avalanche in lawsuits after this
ruling, as the media companies test the limits for this new ruling.
Grokster and Morpheus may well be a no-brainer, but what about
Microsoft, Apple and Yahoo? There will be a lots of days in court.
