Roger L. Simon:

If Democrats and Republican spent half as much time bashing Bin Laden as they do each other, he'd be dead a hundred times over.

Hear, hear!

A German businessman has set up an "un-dating agency" for people too chicken to end relationships in person.

Bernd Dressler will deliver the bad news - for those too scared to do it themselves - for 20 euros (£13) by phone, or for 50 euros (£33) in person.

The efficiency and directness of Mr Dressler's manner has earned him the nickname The Terminator.

The 52-year-old compares his company to a dating agency but "in reverse".

Those who use this service hopefully then crawls back under the stone they came out from. Sheesh!

PS: Dumping someone with a text message or email is not any better.

We're moving to the post-censorship world: People who like their heads next to their wardrobes censor themselves.

Berlin's Deutsche Oper has removed the provocative staging of a Mozart opera from its schedule for fear of enraging Muslims, the opera house said in a statement.

One of three opera houses in the German capital, it cancelled director Hans Neuenfels's production of "Idomeneo", a 1781 drama set in ancient Crete, because authorities warned it could present an "incalculable security risk".

In the staging, which sparked audience protests during its premiere in December 2003, King Idomeneo presents the lopped-off heads of Poseidon, Jesus, Buddha and the Prophet Mohammed and displays them on four chairs.

German critics saw the show at the time as a radical attack on religion and religious wars.

Musical director Kirsten Harms decided to cancel the new staging of the opera, scheduled for November, to avert "any danger to the audience or staff" that could arise from violent protests.

The opera itself deals with resistance to sacrifices demanded by the gods but makes no mention of any of the world's major religions.

And there you have it. The Islamists win before they even stage a protest!

Here's how the latest media rumour about Bin Laden's alleged demise originated:

The now-denied reports that Osama bin Laden was dead grew out of a rumor passed at an embassy party in Islamabad by a Saudi diplomat attaché, according to intelligence sources in France and Pakistan.

The sources say Saudi Deputy Chief of Mission in Islamabad, Abdullah Zahani, told a French defense attaché of the rumors.  The French attaché reportedly felt duty bound to pass on the rumors, in a cable sent with the lowest possible classification normally used to pass on media reports.

A French newspaper apparently obtained the cable and the report on Saturday touched off an international, day-long media panic over bin Laden’s possible demise.

A rumour passed an an embassy party. Impressive reporting. And, ISI has some choice words for the Saudis:

Pakistani intelligence sources say few, if any, of the Saudi sources "are of any value" and that "the Saudis repeatedly get conned by these individuals who claim to have exclusive information."

They must have learned that from the CIA.
