Carlos the Jackal says al-Qaeda are amateurs The most dangerous terrorist in the world in the 1970's, Carlos the Jackal, with the very revolutionary real name Vladimir Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, is not impressed with the performance and targeting of his modern successors. “Kensington and Chelsea were places where I spent my youth, so I’m not happy about people getting killed in the streets of London,” he said. He condemned Al-Qaeda followers without specific targets, saying: “They are not professionals. They’re not organised. LA Archdiocese to pay $660 million to sex abuse victims The Catholic Church again finds that raping children is expensive. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles reached a settlement agreement Saturday with more than 500 people who allege they were sexually abused by clergy, the main plaintiff's attorney told The Associated Press. Attorneys for the archdiocese, the nation's largest, and the plaintiffs will release a joint statement Sunday morning and hold a news conference Monday, said plaintiff's attorney Ray Boucher. The deal is valued at $660 million, according to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity because the settlement had not been officially announced.
