The New York Times' Dr. Steven Levitt is worried that Jihadis are not effective enough in killing Americans, and offers them some help and suggestions.
This week, the New York Times has provided online columns on August 8 and August 9 dedicated to brainstorming new ideas on how Jihadists can attack and kill Americans. The New York Times author, Dr. Steven Levitt, a writer on economics, used his online August 8 column "If You Were a Terrorist, How Would You Attack?" to offer some new ideas to Jihadists on ways to murder Americans, and suggested some specific tactics that Jihadists can take to improve both the level of terror and effectiveness of such murders. Then Dr. Levitt invited the general public to offer their own suggestions on how Jihadists might be able to kill Americans, stating "I'm sure many readers have far better ideas. I would love to hear them." And disturbingly, many hundreds of readers obliged Dr. Levitt by offering horrific suggestions to help Jihadists. This was not yet enough for the New York Times, and so on August 9, Dr. Levitt wrote a second online column "Terrorism, Part II", where he defended his right to recommend murder ideas to terrorists, by explaining that there are a "virtually infinite" number of American vulnerabilities, and by claiming that the "terrorists are incompetent" or the "terrorism threat just isn't that great".
Disturbing editorial practices.

Kosovo, formally a part of Serbia but in fact a protectorate run by the UN, appears to become a never-ending occupation. There are some signs that Europe is beginning to tire of the negotiations going nowhere fast, and effectively threatens the parties that if they can't come up with a solution, the door to EU will remain closed.
Maybe more interestingly, splitting Kosovo into an Albanian and a Serb part is now seriously being considered.
The European Union envoy to talks on Kosovo threatened on Sunday to withdraw the possibility of bloc membership from Serbia and Kosovo if they failed to reach a solution on the province's future.
The envoy, Wolfgang Ischinger, who is working with diplomats from the United States and Russia, also said that dividing Kosovo along ethnic lines, between its majority ethnic Albanians and minority Serbs, was an option if both sides agreed. [...]
Any division would be likely to leave the northern slice, where about half of Kosovo's 100,000 Serbs live, as part of Serbia.
There is concern in the West and the region that Kosovo's ethnic Albanian leaders, increasingly frustrated by setbacks and delays, might unilaterally declare independence, throwing the Balkans into new turmoil.
A split Kosovo will be a monument to diplomatic failure in the Balkans.

The WJS argues that college students are smarter than the US Congress (which arguably doesn't mean much):
Pop quiz. Which has been most important in reducing poverty over time: a) taxes, b) economic growth, c) international trade, or d) government regulation?
We know what our readers would say. But lest you think American young people are slouching toward serfdom, you'll be pleased to know that 53% of U.S. high school seniors also answered "b." The latest version of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) asked this question, among others on economics, and the results will not please members of the Socialist International, or for that matter the Senate Finance Committee.
Since socialism is about state control, being elected to a position of control over the state apparatus has a nasty tendency to turn everybody into socialists.

The lowlife who executed three college students is an illegal alien previously charged with raping a young child.
A Peruvian national in the U.S. illegally and who was previously charged with raping a 5-year-old girl pleaded not guilty Friday in the execution-style slayings of three young college students, a day after he surrendered to the Newark mayor.
Jose Carranza, 28, aka Jose La Chira, entered his plea before Essex County Superior Court Judge Michael Casale.
Europeans who consider the US "right wing" would probably be surprised to find that it is controversial in the USA whether its own immigration laws should actually be enforced.
I don't mean to imply that this monster is in any way representative for illegal aliens. He's not even remotely representative for the human race.
