Google goes local

Introduced in beta: Google local. It's been around in a test version for some time, and I wrote about it, but now it's really available for the masses. The American masses, that is. I want this in Norwegian!

So what is it about? You chose an area, an address in the US, and then a normal search term. Want to find a kyokushinkai karate club on Manhattan? A list of addresses for newspapers in Minneapolis? Think you can find a gun shop in Berkeley, California?

And you can see the results on a map!

This service is still extremely intolerant to misspellings and ambigious place names, though, very unlike other Google searches.

Johan Galtung - the peace professor

Norway has exported one of our braindead postmodern pseudo-intellectuals, the peace professor (no kidding!) Johan Galtung. Right now, the Aussies are the unlucky recipients of this pompous clown, and Professor Bunyip is not impressed. Good for him, but seriously, mate, we don't want him back (scroll up, as well, there is more).

All our viking ancestors are rotating full speed in their graves...

I would have missed this gem if it wasn't for Bjørn Stærk.
