Drug courier called police to help find lost cannabis
A 37 year old drug courier here in Bergen futilly searched for two kg (~5 lbs) of hashish he had buried in a forest. In the end he saw no other solution than calling the police to help him find it. The local police is service oriented, and with the aid of a narcotics dog they found the drugs.
Now, this unmistakably sounds like he had been smoking too much of his own cargo, but he actually had a decent reason. The owner of the drugs and some unidentified third person were pressing him hard, and were undoubtedly willing to use more unpleasant methods than the court system. I still fail to fully see the logic, though, since the police were unlikely to hand the drugs over to the owner, so I'd assume he's still unpopular there. Maybe even more so, if he informed on them.
Now the forgetful courier will have to enjoy the local prison facilities for six months (with an additional six months suspended). The court took into account that he has lately been undergoing treatment for his drug problem.
