I often post my opinions on politics on this blog and other fora where I write. People often tend to pigeonhole people based on one or two pieces. If you are 'liberal' on one issue, they expect you to be liberal on all issues.
I tend to lean different ways on different issues.
I'm libertarian on many issues. I am radical on free speech protection, and I think drugs should be selectively decriminalized/legalized. Thus, I oppose the attacks on freedom of expression from the left and right alike.
I am leftist on many social issues. I support the extensive welfare system we have in Scandinavia, as does almost everybody else here (including the conservatives).
I am centrist on economy. I don't believe in the non-interventionist rightist philosophy, as it has proven flawed in real life, but I believe the market should be left free to produce goods effectively without excessive government intervention.
I am rightist on many security issues. I am one of quite few Norwegians that tend to currently agree with e.g. Tony Blair on Iraq.
I dislike leftism that sprouts marxist ideas, which I hold to be ineffective for the economy and dangerous when it comes to personal freedoms. I detest rightism for its insistence on cramming laws based on ancient superstitions down everybody's throats. The (american) conservative positions on arms control, abortion and the death penalty are pretty much non-issues here anway, supported only by fringe groups (read: extremists).
As you probably understand by now: every election, I have a heck of a problem finding anyone to vote for
