SEVEN I hope you're watching Six Feet Under this season. I also hope that like me, you're amazed and enthralled. It's like watching the best movie ever with all your favorite actors every week. Possibly the only thing missing is a reoccurring role by Parker Posey but other than that, I think it's perfect. Aside from being the best, it may also be the stillest show on TV. Not much "happens" week to week but the range of subtle emotion is, well, beautiful. In a universe where even War is driven by ratings and demographics, the accomplishment is astounding. Tonight's show was no exception. From the various message boards I visit, everyone seems to have their own perceptions. To me it was about our self-destructive traits as well as what we do to try and heal ourselves. It was about power in relationships and about the power of intimacy. It's always seems to speak to how fallible we are as humans while affirming how miraculous it is we survive at all. It's the kind of show you talk about with your shrink. Mine has told me SFU is the most talked about TV show he's ever heard about in his practice. I believe it. When it's over, I sit and think about my own life and how humbled I am in the presence of vulnerability. You're moved because you recognize the pain. You're moved because this pain reminds you of the presence of Love.
Watch it. Think about me. |
