LUXURY CRUZ

I’ve told stories here before about when I was the manager of a Soho “designer boutique” in NYC years ago. It was an interesting experience and I met many fascinating people.

One day two woman came into the shop and I soon discerned they were mother and daughter. They walked around talking about various things, ending at the counter where we had sunglasses. The older woman looked through them all until choosing a rhinestone encrusted pair to try on.

“Rhinestones.” I said to her. “Very sexy.”

“Darling,” she replied, “rhinestones are my life.”

That woman was Celia Cruz. RIP and may heaven be lined in rhinestones.
