ART=LIFE

Check out this photo-essay on Slate, “Reversing Vandalism”. It tells the story of how a large group of books at the San Francisco Public Library concerning gay and lesbian themes were slashed and vandalized. The remains have been incorporated into Art in various mediums and photos of some of the pieces are presented here. While not all the “art” is great, it’s still amazing to see an act of hatred turned into a uniting, expressive force. A chronicle of the entire story accompanies the pics including how some of the artists were forced to confront their own prejudices and denials. Great, inspiring stuff.
