SIX OF ONE, HALF DOZEN OF THE OTHER


What about Grape? The Great Grape has a nice ring and could be very promising in the future. Grape Paltrow, however, not so great. Sounds like a dessert.

Banana. Absolutely not. Banana for a girl = slut and for a boy = pressure. Nope.

Peach. Too happy, too Southern, too cutesy.

Orange. For a boy it sounds good. Orange, a nice solid name like a Statesman might have. For a girl Orange is a little dowdy. The town librarian might be named Orange. Orange is not disposed to romance.

Cherry. Well, it gets bonus points for having actually been used as a name. Alas, the sex vibe is a little much.

Apple. Hmmm. Like the computer, like Adam and Eve, something basic and simple that points to Beginnings. A girl Apple could be beautiful yet utilitarian, luscious but attainable. A boy Apple might be a rocket scientist or a computer whiz. He’d bend over his desk with a gleam in his eye someone would find enticing. Apple...
